Sleep Apnea Machines

Depending upon the type of sleep apnea one suffers from, sometimes machines which facilitate regular sleep in various ways can be used.

Although there are many possible causes of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, the most common cause tends to be the complete relaxation of the airways and tongue during sleep, which results in the airways becoming obstructed thus preventing the sleeping sufferer from drawing breath. After a few seconds the brain forces the sufferer out of deep sleep, contracting the airways and tongue once more to allow breathe to be drawn. As the person falls into deep sleep once more, the same thing usually happens, and can continue all throughout the night causing major disruption to a persons rest.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea can sometimes be treated by machine. CPAP, or Continuous Positive Air Pressure is one such machine, and among the most effective treatments for Obstructive Sleep Apnea available. CPAP machines work by attaching to the nose, and continually blowing enough air through the upper airways to keep them open allowing you to breath without obstruction, and allowing you to achieve a deep sleep free from stoppages in breathing.

Whilst these machines are very effective any many people swear by them, for others, having to wear a mask over your nose may be uncomfortable and simply too much to get used to, therefore they abandon the usage of the machines.
